BAA ATOLL BIOSPHERE RESERVE
In 2004, Government of Maldives initiated an Atoll Ecosystem Conservation Project that later lead to the establishment of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Baa Atoll. The official recognitation was recieved on 28th June 2011. The purpose of the program was to demonstrate an effective management system for atoll ecosystem consercation and sustainable development on Baa Atoll. MOWF 2019 Swimmers will be swimming in Baa Atoll Biosphere Reserve. Swimmers will have exclusive access to protected areas and will be briefed on how to protect the environment.
ADAM OCEAN WALKER
Adam Walker is an endurance swimmer and coach. First British person to swim toughest 7 Ocean swims in the world. Adam has an international following and over 100,000 followers on social media platforms. Adam’s website receives 10,000 hits per month. His book ‘Man vs Ocean’ is an international best seller. Adam is an ambassador for Zoggs UK and RLSS Open Water Safety Ambassador. Adam currently runs a 5-day swim camp in Maldives twice a year and joins the event as partner. Adam is keen to promote Maldives as an ultimate swimming destination. Adam will take lead of the Swim Maldives promotional team to promote the event in UK and internationally, through his social media platforms. He will conduct interviews with international media will share his vast experience with swimmers at the event.
